Geeklawyer, a pioneer in the difficult art of combining “red in tooth and claw” free market principles with corporate social responsibility, congratulates John Redwood for his latest plans to revitalise capitalism in the UK.
For the past decade we have laboured under the woolly communist thinking of pinko lefty Tony Bliar cynically masquerading as neo-conservativism, for no other reason than populism. His campaigns of “public service” before private profit have wrecked the potential value that ‘public-private’ initiatives could have brought to corporate profitability. And public benefit. Because, remember, when large corporations make tens of billions in profit, which are hustled off into offshore holding companies not paying tax, it isn’t just shareholders who benefit. No, it’s the poor and disadvantaged who benefit from the trickle-down effect of these profits. Everyone wins. Except under Neo-Labour communism. It’s political correctness gone mad.
John Redwood is now suggesting a return to the glory days of Victorian England. The time when we had an empire. He suggests we return to the days when pointless tosh like ‘data protection’ laws and, so called ‘Health and Safety’ laws didn’t exist. All of these being red tape burdens on the heroic entrepreneurs who could otherwise return us to the power of empire.
Geeklawyer longs for a return to the days when Lancashire mill owners could operate factories employing legions of 10 year old girls whose job was darting in between the spinning unprotected sharpened blades of cotton machines. Or who could employ old age pensioners to use poisonous chemicals in industrial processes.
Dangerous? Yes, undoubtably. But have you considered that by culling the old, sick, weak and slow these factory owners were really improving the healthy stock of the population of the area? The surviving young girls are now quick enough to fend of the lecherous intent of even the mill owners themselves. And sick old people died quickly instead of clogging up hospitals who were then free to treat more productive economically efficient workers.
And by having their profits enhanced the companies are now able to set up charitable foundations to help the people they consider to be the worthy poor. No need to burden the tax payer with ruinous welfare schemes allowing the feckless to feed themselves instead of dying as they richly deserve; or have their illnesses treated in public hospitals at taxpayer expense.
And like most lawyers Geeklawyer works at least 90 hours a week. Manifestly it has not harmed him. Most of us in the UK cheer heartily our American cousin Dan Hull at WAC who would make 12 year old associates do an 90 hour minimum week.
It’s political correctness gone mad.
Let us all hope John Redwood is successful. He may be a bit of a leftie but hopefully this will shift politics away from the current extreme left toward a more middle ground.
Much has recently been made of the alleged connections of terror suspects with Pakistan, and in particular the alleged role of the Pakistani Madrassa (Islamic school) in fostering extremism amongst young people.
What can we say about the Madrassa? It is a wholly male boarding institution with its own food customs, fostering a strict and a particular world view handed down over generations. Attendees regard themselves as set apart from the general populous, often with a special mission. Close bonds are formed between students which generally continue into later life. Not unlike Eton.
Not all students of the madrassa go on to become terrorists, just as not all former students of Eton go on to become members of the shadow cabinet. However a connection appears to occur with such regularity as should give us cause for concern.
David Cameron has announced he is keen to promote diversity within the Conservative Party and is urging constituencies to list at least 50% women as candidates for parliamentary positions, thus giving the appearance of equality whilst still allowing constituencies to vote for the person they really want i.e. a white man and preferably one who went to public school.
“The Conservative Party needs to reflect the diversity of society, otherwise we are losing out on a pool of talent, ” said five Old Etonians. “We want to encourage more women to become models … er … MP’s.”
Poor Prince Charles. Married the wrong woman, then can’t seem to legally marry the right one. The Marriage Act 1836 which created civil weddings stated that “it shall not extend to marriage of any member of the Royal Family.” The Marriage Act 1949 had a similar exclusion clause: “nothing in this Act shall affect any law or custom relating to the marriage of members of the Royal Family.”
The government of course no longer troubles itself about concepts of legality. Not when Tony can simply wheel out one of his mates, who can be guaranteed to interpret the law in his favour.
Embarrassing and unsightly war to cover up? Constitutionally tricky marriage? No problem Sir, but the hourly rate will of course be double on account of the work being complex and y’know … last minute.
Arguments about the validity of the marriage stem from Article 12 of the Human Rights Act, right to marry, and Article 14, the right to exercise the rights contained in the Act without discrimination. There is a requirement to interpret all legislation in a manner that is compatible with the Human Rights Act.
Shame for Charles then that both Labour and Conservatives have recently called for the abolition of the Human Rights Act on the basis that it provides too many rights for illegal immigrants..
