By the clamouring public demand of the person who asked for it here is a brief biography of Geeklawyer.
Geeklawyer is an intellectual property barrister in private practice and who acts primarily for clients in the electronic technology arena, but who does all IP/IT work in the UK/EU/US jurisdiction. Specifically his practice comprises: advising on, drafting and prosecuting patents in IT; e-commerce; UK/US/EU trademarks; copyright & passing off (~unfair competition for yanks); software licences; IP exploitation. Human rights is his profound personal interest but not yet, in truth, an area of professional competence.
Geeklawyer is an ex-physicist who did R&D work for the evil American empire in his early career. The poor saps who employed him spent time and lots of money & effort transforming him into a lawyer in the hope that it would give him personal fulfillment and joy, and them a satisfied loyal and diligent employee. A shabby and ungrateful Geeklawyer repaid this altruism by resigning and pursuing a career at the Bar. Firstly at an emaciated and sickly shipping set, as a result of which the word ‘charterparty‘ still induces sweating and a nervous tick; and subsequently in a series of in-house general counsel positions at software houses and Internet firms. Most of these collapsed shortly after he joined. Geeklawyer denies the coincidence and anyone who says, like Lady Bracknell, that “to lose one company may be regarded as a misfortune but to lose all of them looks like carelessness” is likely to receive a glowering and resentful look.
Geeklawyer is straight, single and lives somewhere in the south of England. He hopes to find a billionairess ex-porn star on her third heart attack. Referrals welcome. As are offers of proof-reading and grammar tuition (but not, in the latter regard, from Americans).
Geeklawyer’s hobbies are karate, free-fall parachuting, motorcycles, Linux/geeky computer stuff and using the apostrophe incompetently. His fondest wish is for trial by combat to be reintroduced into the English legal system.
Geeklawyer is egotistical snobbish pompous and self-important: but he is entitled to be since he is vastly superior to virtually everyone else, particularly you.
