Geeklawyer cannot refrain from commenting on the news that pretty Prince William was involved in a raid on a suspected drug running boat.

The involvement seems to have been somewhat peripheral: his role was described by an anonymous crew member as that of “...a sort of lookout...”; a description last used about the untrained crew member of the Titanic who persuaded his chum to let him “have a go” because it would look good on his CV. Reading between the lines one assumes that the squaddies felt that the witless one should be given a “make work” non-job to do that didn’t get in anyone’s way while the real look-out & crew got on with it:

“Sit here sir, keep a firm look out and don’t move or speak until we tell you that this is all over; then someone will give you a colouring book and you can draw pictures of what happened for our, ermm, ship’s log.”

The Royal Navy continued it’s long standing tradition of sinking boats suspected of ferrying dope around; mercifully Prince William was being ferried about in one of their helicopters not a boat so he was in little danger of being sunk by his own comrades.
