Too young?!

According to the excellent new blog Current Awareness a young woman has won her discrimination claim for being sacked for the possession of an excessive amount of youth. The decision is not too alarming since it was an uncontested hearing. It is a bit odd since the legislation was targeted at wrinkly discrimination.

Nonetheless it’s still a bit much: at that age she shouldn’t need to sue, she could always get work at any massage parlour (assuming she’s not from up north and thus a bit on the lardy side) - and leave suing till she’s 50 and can’t get another job.

It’s political correctness gone mad: the next thing they’ll be telling me is that I can’t advertise a ‘Whites Only‘ manservant job.

Judging by the number and placement of GoogleAds, I see you are confidently expecting heated debate over this one…..

Hang on. I thought you weren’t the cynical one :???:

Dammit. I’m toying (only toying mind you) with buying an Aston Martin so I need all the Google hits I can get - I can afford the car but not the insurance. Not that I’m hinting ytou should click the links - that’d be a breach of the Google t&cs

Good choice of car GL…but… driving without insurance is a no-no.. Ask Ruthie if you are in any doubt about the Highway Code or RTA

Try a bit of speeding / drivingwithout insurance in North Wales…. you’ll get a warm bed for the night and a chance to eat better food than you can find in many Welsh pubs. They may even give you a spliff to bed you down for the night…. if recent reports in the tabloids about Brunstrom’s attitude to drugs is anything to go

I have been wasting an hour writing about Europe and Downing Street… sometimes wonder why we bother :-)

Something terribly ‘British’ about blawging away about nothing…. As Eddie Izzard suggested, some years ago, … I may go to the North Pole in my underpants for my next ‘high’….

Gawd I’d never drive without insurance that is insane. Brunstrom needs his bollocks chopped off - he makes Ian Blair look good!

Damn right… as a young person I’m discriminated on all sorts of grounds. For starters I can’t retire (simply because I’m too young to do so!) It’s a disgrace.

Also I’m barred from having an ’senior citizens bus pass’. Discriminatory language that implies that an old person is senior to a young person. Imagine if one were to apply the label ‘Senior’ to us whites, there would be an outcry. Why should hard working young people hand out subsidies for the free travel of old people?

I mean the other day I was sat at the front of a bus and an old person told me to move and sit at the back! Naturally I invoked the story of Rosa Parks but to no avail as the bus company had conspired on the side of the olds. I was made to stand at the back like some second class citizen.

Furthermore there are fuel allowances (young people freeze too), Discounts on National Trust properties etc.. etc..

I’m surprised this got through a court; I mean what is the average age of our Judges? How represented is the 16-24 age group amongst our law lords?

I think that proves my point.

I am too frightened even to THINK about how much it would cost to insure an Aston Martin, let alone go out and actually BUY one - and all this at the time of the credit crunch….

The bottom of the range ones, DB7’s, e.g.

DB7

are very affordable second hand - £35k (+/- £5k) - but the insurance for me is £2k a year - EEEEK!!! By contrast I pay less than £300 fully comp for my motorcycle.
