OK, the venue for Monday’s beers is upstairs at the Harp in Covent Garden/Charing Cross from 6.30pm onwards. The Harp has decent-ish beer and though it can be a bit crowded downstairs it is sometimes free upstairs - if it’s too crowded the proceedings may be transferred to a different court, with no order as to costs.
Because Geeklawyer is so very very gracious non lawyer readers will be permitted to attend - but remember that you may only speak if invited to do so and only then on condition of a suitably deferential tone: you will of course have to buy expensive beers and look grateful. Well, that works well in court so why change the formula?

Would I have to curtsy?
I’d like to to have a measure of informality, but would a lack of curtsying be going too far? Perhaps it would but we’ll play it by ear.
Alternatively you could meet Ruthie at the Cafe Royal from 6.30 onwards. We will all convene at an agreed venue at some point in the evening, but Geeklawyer obviously wants to make a point by arranging a meeting at an alternative venue first, and I do like to humour him.
We have to move on somewhere anyway so why make everyone go there only to move on? No-one is going to want to hang out at the Cafe Royal for any length of time. It’s not me making a point - I’m just being practical. Just meet us there!
I’ll be there (the pub rather than the hotel), but possibly slightly earlier than 6.30pm and then having to leave quite early on. Thanks for organising this.

Erm well I’ve now told everyone the Cafe Royal where I am on a course anyway. I’ll collect everyone up who arrives at the Cafe between 6.30 and 7 then meet you somewhere.
A choice between the Cafe Royal and somewhere called The Harp? Really. One is obviously appropriate: the other obviously a dive. I am afraid I must decline. Could the next gathering possibly include Tea at the Ritz?

It is with great regret that I have to announce that I will not be able to attend.
Unfortunately, I got an ASBO the other day for not cutting my hedge - despite reminders from the Police Community Support Officers who ‘attended’ to advise me of the need to do same.
Accordingly, I am now confined to barracks for 14 days and may not ‘attend’ or otherwise disport myself at any establishment selling intoxicating liquors.
Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is less exciting. I have decided to get a new heart and will be ‘attending’ at a hospital of BUPA’s choice to undergo a heart and lung transplant….
OK… That is absurd… … the truth of the matter is that I was crossing the road with five chickens late last night and they attacked me. Have you see the size of these new mutant, globally warmed, chickens? Three feet tall… like raptors…. I just could not fight all of them off. I have never been hen pecked… but last night was truly shocking… One of them ate my right leg…and ordered some fries from KFC to accompany it.
OK…. None of these things happened…

Nearly Legal regrets…
As it turns out I will be manhandling a wheelie bag of roughly the same size and weight as myself to, around and from Court during Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, as Counsel is apparently desperately in need of my assistance. As the wheelie bag is far too declasse (just imagine the accent) for the Cafe Royal, and the Harp is not near the Court -> Tube route, I am very unlikely to be part of the wandering horde of drunk bloggers.
My own detective efforts having so far ended in failure, any info gained on Pupilblogger’s status gratefully received.
As I lie, one legged on my futon, awaiting the TV coverage of the Rugby… I wrote you a speech to deliver at your binge drinking event. I have posted, accordingly.
I am only sorry that I am not able to attend… thankfully… Rioja comes in those convenient plastic bags which one may hang from a drip feed unit. I shall win through… as I have done before.
I asked the last doctor if there was any chance of me getting YMCA… I think you may know the famous song by The Village People…. He didn’t seem to find it funny… but he was a lot more considerate when I told him that “I was in The Navy”
Off to watch a bit of Rugby… with, as it happens, a fine friend called “Ms Rioja” very good curvy exterior, if slightly green , but red blooded inside and absolutely delicious. Goes down well… as they say, apparently, in Barnsley.
