Good podcast… If you do plan an evening in London… would you be kind enough to ensure that it is a smoke free venue…and ask if they serve mineral water… preferably Kaballah approved mineral water… because I think I may have turned into a Madonna in the last few weeks…

Certainly, the news that Gordon Brown called an election this evening - relayed to me by my new personal clairvoyant.. has affected me greatly.

Mind you… that beef sandwich I bought from the government laboratory where they had a bit of a foot in mouth problem recently… appears to have extraordinarily rendited a part of my memory. I have absolutely no idea what this white thing in my mouth is. It seems to be on fire.

PS: Please send me details of the blawg wine tasting …. Always happy to go out of post code when I need to serve my country….. are there any UK law bloggers left ?… I fear we may be a dying breed….

It is like The Alamo….

There does seem to have been something of a cull in the UK law blogging world recently. This may be a good thing; it keeps the breed strong.

I’ll come to the meetup, by the way, as long as Ruthie can put me up in her spare room.

I’m really not sure of this. Some bloggers appear to have slowed down - but I think that these things are cyclic - I note that some have resurfaced.

Holden Oliver, whom Geeklawyer suspects to be Dan Hull’s alter-ego, has posted this (Trackbacks appear to elude them) in relation to the podcast:

Velvet-voiced barrister GeekLawyer, sans Ruthie, does Podcast 12 and defames WAC?, sort of. Our main blogger, my boss, is an energetic and inspirational guy, with strange tastes in humans.

As one of the remainder still posting, I’m up for drinks. Always up for drinks, but less so the violence that seems to have become de rigeur for lawyers these days. What ever happened to just fiddling the accounts?

It’s August and law blogging is down in US, too.

Holden is way more real than me.

FYI, I spoke today by phone with Ruthie, who appeared surprised she was given entry to US….

Dan: not as surprised as I was. After my phone call and all. I suspect Ruthie was a little disappointed that the body search wasn’t a deep cavity search - rubber gloves, KY Jelly - the full works. Perhaps you’ll compensate her?

Do try to find somewhere we poor smokers can get outside at before we’re all shot like the scum we are. Oh and please don’t organise anything for a Monday - press day at the Gaz with a hangover is remarkably unfunny. This is of course assuming that as a non-blogger I can even come. Mind you, I could just claim that our blog’s in permanent abeyance…

You’ll be lucky if I dont arrange a lynching - smokers are evil - pure evil.

Dear Mr Greeklawyer,

Perhaps you are becoming just faintly tedious? Mistress Ruthie’s stats are sky high and Tucker says that he wishes he could get his hands on figures like hers.

Yours kindly and gently

VM

PS. On confirmation that every attender is related to a Peer of the Realm I am prepared to offer my little cottage as a venue for a get together. Smokers could always use Tucker’s room; I doubt he would notice the smell.

Having watched Helen Mirren doing “The Queen” last night I was reminded of Spitting Image.

Bizarre… What about Spearmint Rhino, GL ? Classy venue…chance to mix with City Lawyers, possibly…

Right… I’m awf to watch University Challenge and see if I can actually answer any of the questions… great… that it should come to this on a Monday night.

VM: ‘tedious’ ?! Heavens, as ever your prose is recondite and Geeklawyer wonders if instead of being tedious you are being a tad ‘over-protective‘? And if so why? surely your own domestic life is the model of bliss? No hint of ‘ hidden desires‘, surely?

I assure you that while all attendees are not, apart from minor foreign royalty like myself, Peers of the Realm they are all, to a man, Gentlemen. Even the solicitors. We will even arrange it outside the ‘Shabbat’.

Dear Mr Greeklawyer,

I see that you have what Mr Baldrick (and indeed Tucker) would call a cunning plan. Your reference to the Jewish Sabbath is intended to link me with Mr Myerson QC. Let me then promise that I am just as likely to attend on a Saturday as on a Thursday.

As for my own domestic life, I am surprised that a gentleman (such as yourself) would publicly speculate. It seems rather ungallant but what can one expect from foreign royalty? However I thank you for your concern and assure you that Tucker is quite sufficient. Heavens, I am sorry that my little tease aroused the beast within you.

Please give my warmest regards to Tucker. Being on over friendly terms with the servants would normally give rise to the sort of lurid speculation a decent young lady like yourself wouldn’t comprehend. In Tuckers case I am prepared to make an exception: a rough diamond.

And I’m sure your relationship with Simon Myerson QC is entirely proper.

… On a completely unrelated point ( work with me here, I’m only a BVC Student for crying out loud)- with a voice like that GL, have you ever considered setting up a Sex Chatline?!?!?

How saucy of you you little Minx. And how right; but with you all busily clicking on my Adsense ads and making me rich do I really need to?

Actually, GL, I am never tempted to click on your Adsense ads given the well known fact that IP Barristers make a great deal of positively filthy lucre, which they then use either to fund trips to Spearmint Rhino and/or to set up their own Sex Telehpone Chatlines…….

Please boys and girls behave; I leave you alone for 10 seconds and you start throwing
handbags at one another.

Yes indeed my blog stats are way up, so clearly someone is reading my blog. Surely not all my
hits can be accounted for by Dan clicking on my photograph every half hour.

I too was a little suspicious of the identity of Holden Oliver. Without ringing Dan’s
office and checking I will never know for sure. But assuming he is Dan’s employee, no
doubt he is required to write what he is told or be flogged.

I’m keen to attend the drink-in, as I need to monitor and approve Geeklawyer’s alcohol
intake.

I’m currently writing this at Detroit airport as due to slight miscalculation on flight
times I have ended up with an 8 hour wait.
