Site themes

Yes, Geeklawyer is arsing around with site themes again. Blame Martin George who alerted Geeklawyer to the Sandbox Themes Competition which is showing competition entries. Geeklawyer uses the Sandbox theming engine. He will be chopping and changing the site theme on an unpredictable and random basis.

Any feedback as to what looks good will be gratefully received.

Update:

lo-fi told me my anti spam stuff was fu*ked so no-one could leave comments. Cured. Tho’ nested comments still needs fixing.

Factory-scape theme is nice. Makes Google Ads stand out though, or is that the plan?

Oh, you beastly cynic

Mind you I still need to make the comments nested …

lo-fi is right, the google ads do stand out.

ever thought of trying a 50s lounge theme?

I confess the factories are largely irrelevant. Unless that is one constructs a neo-industrialist ironic metaphor for techno-alienation.

Yea, Bollocks.

You need to update the About page - it says that the blog is written by GL and Ruthie. Which is officially no longer true, although knowing what drama queens you both are, I bet that Ruthie is lurking in the background, pulling the strings.

Ta Alex. Done. But really, Ruthie is not pulling anything.

This theme reminds me of a film noir decetive movie.

Hmmm; I like the new theme, but a few constructive comments. Would be nice to have the main container centered in the window, though I know that’s personal taste. Also, being as it’s _just_ so literary, why not get all typographical. Also worth, while you’re playing with fonts, is making the theme elastic (set all measurements in em), and then accessible font scaling will make your whole theme scale nicely.(http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=/063/063.css&page=0).
My vibe on design at the moment is all over clean, typograpical and symmetric. Perhaps you could move the google ads over to a left hand sidebar on full blog views?

I think you should also remove Ruthie from the “contact us” section.

On a side note, I’m having problems getting through your spam protection. I find this odd and disquieting. I am shaking nervously now.

It’s getting there…

Good ideas from Felix. A bit of CSS tinkering and it should look very nice indeed. And then finally you may be able to shed that pre-pubescent/Kubrick image. Maybe.

For real Mary? What problems? One other person emailed me a complaint but I can’t see anything wrong. Unless it’s the maths. Heres a cheat sheet:

1+1=2 2+1=3 ah fuck, it I’ll buy you a calculator :)

As for Martin how does one flip the bone in ascii? ‘-O’ ?

I should smack you, but you might enjoy it and I don’t want to contribute towards your gratification.

I know I dated Ruthie for a while so I can see why you might think me an extreme masochist; but no, I wouldn’t enjoy being smacked
