Geeklawyer meant to reply to a comment on Intelligent Design that the Singing Accountant wrote in which he asserted the uncertainty of what went on before the big Bang as basis for maintaining a belief in God. It’s a good issue.
Of course since the Singing Accountant is a Ruthie fan club member it is likely that neither he nor several others will be reading this blog. However the Big Bang is unacceptable.
It is often said that nature abhors a vacuum. Geeklawyer would add ” and physics abhors a singularity” which is what the Big bang is. It is a truism in science that one knows that ones idea is broken when a singularity arises.
So it was interesting to see the Register reporting on bouncing Universes. This theory uses quantum loops to describe a theory of gravity allowing sequences of recurring Universes which need not be identical. Einstein’s model was broken because of a lack of a coherent (sorry!) quantum theory.
We may be in a position to start developing better models not requiring a Big Bang. Maths is happy, Geeklawyer is happy - loony fundamentalist Christians want to burn people.

If I was a loopy fundamentalist I’d be suggesting that God exists in a parallel dimension within the multi-verse and that black matter is actually angel spunk, which holds the entire orgasmic entity together.
In this loop quantum gravity theory there are almost infinite variations of universes that could be created (the loops themselves must place some constraints on the make-up of space time) when it bounces back with a big bang (although it would of course be silent). This means that over a long enough period of time all of the particles which form the organization of matter we choose to label as ourselves will be recreated with the same combination, potentially within the same universe (or would it be an identical different universe with the same properties) .
Huzah we are all therefore immortal star children and will be re-born to sin again.
