First off we have the Dear Leader turning a blind eye to allegations of corruption between a Saudi Prince
and BAE. One could determine if there was any truth to this. one could even investigate whether any criminal offence had been committed.
One could. But what happens if it is found to be a well based allegation? Bad. So what does our moral leader do? What does the ‘straight kinda guy’ do? Well obviously he spikes the investigation. But not, of course, because it would reveal corruption by an ally. Oh no; he spikes it for a good cause, because of the National Interest. It would affect our ability to fight terrorism — honest. And it was an old old crime. And jobs. And, well, you know — it’s a small thing; just couple of hundred million here or there.
Mr Blair is seeking new powers to combat the crime which is a cancer in our society. Civil liberties loonies who object to these powers need to start living in the Real World and see just how destructive crimes such as bribery and the other dishonesty offences are; they cause losses running into many tens of millions a year and threaten all of us.
Yea I’m sure supply arms to ‘friendly’ states in the middle-east really goes a long way in helping dismiss the idea that the west is in some way trying to gain control of the area and it’s resources.
No doubt this type of corruption is the perfect recruiting tool for your aspiring Islamic extremist.
