Geeklawyer recently changed the rss service to feed via feedburner rather than direct from the site. Sorry but you will now need to delete the old RSS feed and resubscribe using the new one: “http://feeds.feedburner.com/Geeklawyer”.
Many apologies & thanks to Liadnan for alerting Geeklawyer to the BLINDINGLY obvious . ![]()
Oh no they don’t. Not if you use the feedburner wordpress plugin at
http://orderedlist.com/wordpress-plugins/feedburner-plugin/
It automatically fowards feed requests to feedburner. Much easier.
Honestly. Call yourself a geek. It is even on the feedburner site.
Oh yes they do. The forwarding is buggy - it usually works but it may not - deleting and using the feedburner URL is the best solution and will work reliably. nya nya
Oh? Fair enough, abuse retracted, but I can’t say I’ve ever had any problems with it, at least to my knowledge. This is the feedburner ‘feedsmith’ version you’ve tried?
No reason to not offer both though, is there, to err, ease the transition?
My feed reader was getting as far as asking Feedburner for the redirected feed but Feedburner’s response was of the order of “Who, geeklawyer? Nevererdovit.” All fine and dandy now I’ve changed the feed url directly.
Mon dieu… I come back from trying to do a podcast with Paris Hilton (Access denied)… and find sensible people talking about feedburners and RSS
“The forwarding is buggy”….. (Geeklawyer)
Gentlemen…. I salute you…

Ruthie…. can you do something… anything… to stop this….. ?
And as for Liadnan’s last post…. (Supra) ….. Even Lord Diplock Diplock would have had difficulty interpreting that…. ‘constructionally’. Have you blokes been eating Tex-Mex and doing tequila shots?
I am now going to throw some holy water into a glass and have a neurofen…. just to be sure… that I rise on the morrow…. as I am a non-believer and cannot rely on feedburners or religion to assist
Buona notte

Did you see on the televisual apparatus this evening that they are saying that more than 2 or units a day means one has a drink problem. Oh. That’s bad.
Ruthie is having a strop and so will not be coming out to play.
Gah, if you were a real geek you’d use Apache redirects
Something along the lines of this.
Personally, though, I’d use “permanent” rather than “temp” to give a 301 code rather than a 307. This should work:
Redirect permanent /feed/ http://feeds.feedburner.com/Geeklawyer
Redirect permanent /comments/feed/ http://feeds.feedburner.com/GeeklawyersBlogComments
You might also like to edit your WordPress template (the “Header” header.php part) to reflect the new feeds, currently they still point to the internal ones. (Though once you’ve set up the redirect they’ll still work.)
Yea but I am soooo lazy. tho’ I will hack the Wordpress templates when I can work up the will.
I use the Feedburner replacement plugin (Now “Feedsmith”) for http://www.conflictoflaws.net, and I haven’t had one forwarding failure in 8 months.
I put it to the jury that it is GL, and his woeful knowledge of WP and its associated goodies, that prevents the plugin from working properly, rather than any inherent defects in the product itself.
Should I be asked to adduce evidence, I will simply point to the continued use of (a corrupted version of) Kubrick. The prosecution rests.
To compound the issue, your feed link (from any browser) isn’t working, because you have written the URL thus:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/geekawyer
Unsurprisingly, it comes back with a 404.
I’m beginning to suspect that it is Ruthie who has taken over the site, and is busy breaking all of its functions in a fit of pique.
Huh? where? what?
The little orange RSS icon that displays in the address bar in Firefox/Opera, and in the menu bar in IE7. Click on it.
It doesn’t work - it’s the wrong RSS URL (you’ve entered “geekawyer” rather than “geeklawyer”). So people have no way of subscribing to your feed at the moment (discounting the cut-and-paste one could do from the post above.)
Should be fixed. *should*, please don’t disappoint me…
I had wondered why things had gone quiet!
I found a special way to stop you seeing updates. & now you’ve got round it, dammit.
The key to success is to keep trying, Geeklawyer. That reminds me of a very very bad joke…
