Lawbloggers2007 is nigh

Just to remind you all about the Blogging Conference to be held on 18th May 11am - 4pm at CPA Global, lunch included. Geeklawyer in typically disorganised fashion has not made a list of everyone who previously expressed an interest. After suitable and sustained nagging he will now prepare a list and contact those of you who previously expressed an interest to check you are still coming. Full conference details here.

If you want to come and have yet to express an interest, please mail Geeklawyer ASAP. There will be a star studded line up of speakers, despite Ruthie’s best efforts not a line up of studs although Dan Hull is settling some major litigation to ensure he is able to attend.

Wow - this looks mega. Well done everyone!

Corporate Blawg may have difficulty convincing his megacity 1 corporate firm to allow him to spend 4 hours out of the office in the afternoon.

However, Corporate Blawg will definitely come for an extended lunch (and pay his £20).

And then afterwards… please indicate whether there are plans to continue the social aspect of the conferences in a pub of Geeklawyers’ choice, and whether there should be a bloggers dinner after the event (perhaps Ruthie with her graces can take bookings and sort out a table in the local curry shop?). All details would be much appreciated.

Big Blog the Blawgers!

Ah! I have a vague recollection you are the Brick Lane curry guru.
I was planning to defer to you for a suggested venue & then book it. Perhaps you could email me off list needs to be quickish so I can get attendees and book.

El Chad on Artillery Lane for good South Indian curry

Scarlett for posh yummy little bit pricey curry in Spitalfields Market

City of Spice / Shampan / Standard / Curry Capital on Brick lane have never let me down.

But since conference is over by Old Street, maybe better to go somewhere as close to conference and pub as possible otherwise may lose stragglers?

Please feel free to delete this comment or blank out names if prefer.

Good point CB, do you know any good curry houses near Old Street?

Yup,
I’d second that: if you know any Old Street Curry houses I’m all ears …

I’ve contacted the UK curry guru, Pat Chapman to ask for his advice. He has an excellent site

http://www.patchapman.co.uk/index.html

and runs a curry club for curryholics

I can’t imagine he’ll reply. I do have one of his curry books and he knows his Indian’s that’s for damn sure.

Of course he’ll reply to a fellow superstar like Ruthie…

He seems a really nice bloke from his site.

This sounds great guys! Unfortunately, much like CBUK above, it is unlikely I will be able to leave work at 4pm although I plan to partake of a lengthy lunch break on the 18th.
Keep us updated on evening fun and frolics too.

Alas, I’m not coming. I’m now being trained on the 18th and cannot blow it out - requirement of the shiny new training contract and all. Looking forward to the photos with paper bags and black bars aplenty.

Is anyone actually planning to come to the conference itself - or is it just the evening festivities?

Sadly several blogger are scared of their owners. In the words of Roy (Bladerunner):

“Quite an experience to live in fear, isn’t it? That’s what it is, to be a slave.”

GL…. I am sure that you know this… but the word ’symposium’ is defined as a ‘meeting to discuss a subject’.

In fact… I think it was Plato who took the view that people should drink or be drunk while attending at / participating in… such an event.

As you and others will know …. the Greek verb ’sympotein’ means “to drink together”

I am looking forward to the LawBlog Symposium 2007

I have no idea whether this observation is helpful….

It would, however, be quite amusing to attend an event (Other than an Inn dinner) where everyone was completely pissed… ab initio

I don’t suppose it would be a great precedent if the first UK Law Bloggers Conference turned into a Club 18-30 piss up….

Will the event itself be ‘dry’…. ??
