UK law bloggers virus does the rounds …

Disasters, it seems, like buses come in threes. First Geeklawyer’s blog goes tits up then Charon QC’s blog follows suite.

OK, before the Singing Accountant jumps in to point at that Geeklawyer has made a catastrophic 50% balance sheet error, he’ll admit that, technically, that is only two disasters. Geeklawyer’s fee notes have also been known to make a 50% error too, but rarely in the punters favour. An odd thing mathematics.

Geeklawyer can see colleague bloggers cowering in fear, desperately backing up Wordpress databases as you read. Uncertain times, uncertain.

Fortunately…. Wordpress is still running. I have lost seven websites…temporarily and, of course… no pics or podcasts (which are hosted from my server) until full service is resumed. The service is intermittent at this stage…. but they are working on it - hopefully they will have to work through the night on it!

Good luck. I hope you are being beastly to them.

My ISP are excellent usually… and this is not their fault - but…. it has been frustrating…no corporate emails and we have fielded several hundred calls from users to inform us that our website wasn’t working … which is encouraging… but a bit difficult in terms of the working day….

I can’t take any more today - off to do, of all things, a ‘Quiz nite’ at The Bollo. Have won twice…. £100 of the bar bill which is always pleasing… and we got the champagne last week…. so not all doom…

Tonight we are bringing in a heavyweight - Dr Birchall…. who tarined as a lbarrister, but also freelances at The OED where he has worked for years…. should be useful on the anagrams and word puzzles.

Ph.D in Classics… which, I am sure, will be useful…

Remember to run database backups for Wordpress using a cron job so it’s automatic. And ensure the backup is downloaded so you know where it is in the event of a failure at the ISP.

If all else fails then you can draw comfort from knowing that Google will likely have cached your posts, your life including your inside leg measurement if that’s in the web somewhere. :)
