Oh dear Lord, while drunk and in a festive mood Ruthie and Geeklawyer indulge in some hideous oral activity. It is too too awful to describe & we’ll feel horrid and embarrassed when we sober up.

Worldclass… bravura performance…. I am exhausted after listening… bereft of words to express how I feel !
morituri te salutamus
I will not, of course, die tonight… I shall leave it until after the next tax year… but… this podcast was excellent… (Mind you… I have been at The Bollo giving advice, guidance and compassion… all afternoon.. I do this at this time of year… but only for a few days.
Dear Geeklawyer,
This is indeed funny, but I’m not sure that this is actually a podcast, it is “merely” an audio file that I can listen to at your site or download manually. I’d like to have you appear automatically on my mp3 player as an addition to the IT fare that I normally listen to.
That arbiter of Internet justice, Wikipedia states
Podcasting, a portmanteau of Apple’s “iPod” and “broadcasting”, is a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically by subscription, usually at no cost. It first became popular in late 2004, used largely for audio files
May I be so forward as to suggest something like this?

Ignorantia technologia* neminem excusat
*I have no idea what declension technologia would be, and even if I did, I’d probably get it wrong.
There have been several US Blawg conferences, as an example–

You may find the podcasing guide from the creative commons interesting (US law only I’m afraid)

Ruthie is a much better singer.
Apropos the conference idea (I have just listened to your podcast again - sober) Excellent stuff.
Very happy to attend a blawgers conference. I will also happily speak, if called upon to do so - and will encourage attendees to drink. Please count me in.
Geeklawyer / Ruthie
I write from my temporary office at The Swan. in Chiswick/Acton .. I have just written a peroration on my own blog. I am on a laptop with very small keys (a G4) and, it may be, that my typing is not of the highest standard.
I liked your podcast.. I particularly liked the way Geeklawyer pronounced my name (It is a hard ‘Ch’… like a ‘k’… OK… the greeks may not have pronounced it that way… but I can pronounce my own name as I please…and I do…
Brilliant podcast… loved the singing… I am inspired.
I want to root out pompousity in blogs… I rarely get angry… but… on the Legal Week blog (the subject of my peroration) a potential member of the Bar asked a perfectly sensible question…. I may have been too harsh in my response?
I have a feeling Muttley Dastardly LLP may be employing the type of person who was the subject of my peroration… but… I think Matt might feel that the firm was already replete with comedians… after all… you should see the billables in litigation at MD.. not brilliant.
Perhaps I am getting too old?… perhaps the rioja was of a higher quality?… but…one responder managed to annoy me - and I rarely become ‘exercised’ by posts on blogs.
Perhaps you could include an ‘anger management’ section in your proposed blogger conference…
I do hope you manage it before I pass to the great blog bar in the sky..
thomas: I’m aware of the need for an RSS feed to make the files into ‘proper’ podcasts: we used to have an rss feed but when I upgraded the Wordpress software I lost the hack that I put in the page to generate the feed (doh!) I’ll rectify this as soon as possible (stop sneering Ruthie).
You are quite right… Ruthie is a much better singer than I: she has had training and has sung in several choirs. In my defence I would say however that I was labouring under the disadvantage of a fractured finger. Neither would I admit as much to her she has an insufferably large ego already.
Charon: as ever you posts are a joy both when sober and Rioja’d. You are right to chide me for mispronunciation but I had a master who berated us severely if we used a hard ‘k’ even though he was wrong and was told as much by other masters. Alas such tortious behaviour so young cannot be remedied now.
An anger management session is an abomination: every man is due one splenic eruption a week.
I enjoyed the singing, personally, gave the podcast a lovely festive touch. Though I have to admit, I did miss the background music that usually accompanies Geeklawyer’s podcasts. Dare I say it? I enjoy these podcasts?
Not sure if the conference should occur in a top-class set of chambers. Mayhaps a lovely patio someplace? Where young waitstaff can serve us our bacardi breezers, rioja, and some lovely nibblies.
Ah - no RSS reader set up. That would explain why I can’t add Geeklawyer to the fine collection of blogs in my RSS reader. Our firewall also seems to be stopping me from listening to the “podcast”, so deprived of that too…
what a wonderful piece of music - earned you one ad click. by the way have your conference spaces been snapped up by the sponsors and bloggers? i’m a blogger, just not a solicitor. i do however spend my days working with them, well, their software. i would like to attend, so long as i am allowed. more songs please.
