Apologies for the lack of blogging over the past week. Unfortunately until someone pays Ruthie to write this blog, she still has to work for a living.
This week, Ruthie has been teaching law. Yes indeed, Ruthie has been let loose to spread her fundamentalist propaganda on the innocent. (Hmm, wonder if the use of the phrase “fundamentalist propaganda on the innocent” in this blog will earn us a visit from MI5. Lets hope they leave a comment).
Unfortunately her students this week were somewhat less than innocent. In fact they were mainly Scottish. Ruthie had a… heckler in her class. Ruthie dealt with it. In true Ruthie fashion. I’m sure they will find the body eventually.
In the meantime the blog has received some fanmail. Reprinted here (with some editing, and names changed to protect the innocent).
Dear Ruthie and Geeklawyer,
Sorry I haven’t been commenting much lately, but I’ve been busy studying and I’m pleased to tell you that the dissertation I sent you that you never bothered to read got a double first. So there. I was thinking to turning it into a novel, or maybe a movie script. What do you think?
I’m particularly interested in working in IT law and have now got a job as a paralegal with the in-house legal team of a well known software house. I’ve been there six weeks and its soooo exciting. They haven’t given me a computer yet as there are “resource allocation challenges”. But in truth I can’t really say I need one for pagination.
Anyway the assistants have invited me to come along to their bowling evening next week so I’m sure I’ll pick up lots of info about the latest developments in IT law. There’s some really smart people working here!!
Anyway hope everything goes well with you.
Regards
Charles
P.S. Gizajob.
Dear Charles,
I’m responding to your lovely e-mail as Geeklawyer is (a) too idle and (b) considers it beneath himself to engage in correspondence with the mere mortals that he permits to read his wisdom.
Glad to hear that you got a double first for your dissertation. In truth I’m not sure that “a philosophical analysis of the foundations of trust law” will fit easily onto a billboard. As for publication, you’ll note next time you go to an airport bookshop, that some publishers will publish anything. However be prepared for a limited readership.
I’m glad you’re getting on well as a paralegal. Work hard and if your pagination is particularly outstanding, I’m sure you will be offered a training contract soon.
Best wishes
Ruthie
P.S. I don’t have any jobs available at the moment, but if you’d like to mail me a photo of yourself we can perhaps discuss the matter over dinner sometime.
Dinner?! Is Ruthie using the blog to groom ambitious innocent young wannabe lawyers merely so that she can get laid? tut tut it’s an offence you realise …
I doubt that an entertaining person like Ruthie would need to groom young boys, and the grooming would only be an offence if the person being groomed was a minor. However if Geeklawyer had bothered to read either the dissertation, or the blog entry above properly, he would have discovered by evidencial reasoning that Charles claims to have written this dissertation and to have gained a double first and to be employed as a paralegal. All of which indicates an age in excess of 18, I am not sure of the youngest age for a double first in Law, but even the extraordinarily talented mathemetician Ruth whatsername did not go up until she was 14 and I think took at least a couple of years getting her firsts, so it is unlikely that Charles is still a minor, as he is already progressing well in his first career role, maybe soon he’ll be sent on the photocopying and scanning course.
But what would I know, I’m merely a poor accountant
*sigh* - its so very hard to convey humour sometimes. I refuse to use pseudo-tags </humour>
