Apple nearly have a cool new toy out. It’s some sort of wireless router for video. In non-geek speak it’s a set-top box that will allow you to pipe any video or audio files on your computer or iPod to a TV or stereo.
Nice idea: but while Geeklawyer is an Apple fanboy he thinks many of their toys are overhyped underspecified and overpriced. I mean: the iPod. Geez. And lets not get started on their Micro$oft wannabe monopolistic behaviour.
Still it might be good so let us not damn the accused before he steps into the dock.
No, Geeklawyer mentions all this because he noticed the ‘temporary’ name: ‘iTV‘ which is not entirely dissimilar to ‘ITV‘, the television transmission company which has this trademark. He hopes that it is a very temporary name indeed.
If not, he imagines that ITV Networks Ltd’s lawyers will be scowling and sharpening their litigation pencil very shortly after the launch.
Well spotted, I read about the release but missed the trademark issue, doh
I was too caught up with the release, more Apple toys - yay!
More Geek/boys toys is always good. Especially Apple ones: despite my reservations
* iTV is the project’s internal code name and will not be the final product name.

A useful pointer Faverin: but even a temporary infringement of a trademark is still an infringement - it is merely that the damages may be lower.
