Paul Foot Award

This award is being offered for campaigning/investigative journalism for the second year running in memory of the journalist Paul Foot.

Submissions will be accepted for material that has been published in a newspaper, magazine or website between 1st September 2005 and 31st August 2006. Individual journalists, teams of journalists and entire publications may enter.

Ruthie is going to put this site forward for consideration because she knows that Geeklawyer, despite his claims to have an enormous ego becomes shy when forced towards the glare of publicity.

It would be nice to see Geeklawyer get some recognition for the effort he puts into this site, without payment. (Apart from the revenue from the Google Ads, current fund value 37p).

Further details about the award can be found at www.private-eye.co.uk.

And any expression of support would be most welcome.

Go for it…

How can we, as readers of your blog, assist ?

PS..thanks for hon mention in despatches on the CPD front… My ‘other’ hobby…indeed! Actually, that side is run by sensible people.

Flattered as I am Ruthie, the Paul Foot award is for proper campaigning, Birmingham 6 type stuff, not just fellows like me who have a bit of a rant once in a while.

I’d prefer, indeed insist, you not put me forward. No point in both of us making an ass of me :)

Geeklawyer: I will comply with your request. Like I always do… :-)
But look on the bright side, I could have just nominated myself and then if I’d won think how sick you would feel.

Yes, but who’d vote for you? Apart, that is, from a small selection of readers on this site (no names needed methinks).

Envy is just sooooooo ugly.

Charon: I’m not sure there is any lobbying that readers can do directly to assist for securing an award for this site. However, no doubt those judging will (hopefully) read it, so expressions of support can do no harm.

Whilst I suspect the award is aimed at more serious campaigning journalism I’m not sure our case is entirely hopeless.
