This is the newly published account of Paul Carter a Scot/Ozzy rigger who spent his whole life working on the rigs and about the extremes to which people and companies will go in their pursuit of black gold. It’s last frontier stuff: in a risk averse world where takeaway coffee cups are endorsed with “warning this beverage may be hot” it’s somehow comforting to know there is still the possibility of adventure.
The book came into being when Paul Carter was too tired to attend a medical and wrote notes about his life instead. The doctor thought the account was hilarious and sent the notes to a publisher. The book is now a bestseller in Australia.
Ruthie and Geeklawyer are still looking for our big break. Breaks in the blog tend to be caused not by writers block but by the unfortunate need to work for a living. A novel is one idea: entitled “The Blog” and modeled on “The Fog” but scarier since it would feature Ruthie. The movie version could have Ruthie played by Nicole Kidman, and Geeklawyer played by Danny DeVito.
