Amstrad em@iler

Alan Sugar’s em@iler: widely regarded as rubbish. A good idea badly implemented; anything that’s cheap to buy but which showers you with adverts and big bills is doomed. The core idea of a device which is cheap and subsidised by services is good. Poor sales have, however, led to it being withdrawn. Which leads to obvious and enoyable schadenfreude:

Consumers: “Sugar. you’re fired! You Essex twat.”

The charges are listed on the box, the wrapper of the manual (which you have to use to install the machine) and in the manual itself.

You can change the polling to weekly, so it costs 20p a week instead of 20p a day. That’s in the manual too, but if you didn’t read it to find out the charges you won’t have seen that either.
