Incitement to religious hatred

The idea that a loophole in a law protecting only Jews and Sikhs could be closed seemed like a good idea. However the plan that the offence could be committed intentionally or recklessly was not. Lawyers know that reckless and reasonable are the two most profitable words in the English language due to the complexity of their legal definition. The notion that the court system would protect against unjustified prosecution is overconfident.

Fortunately we have been spared the difficulty due partly to Mr. Blair being otherwise engaged at the crucial moment.

If I believed in conspiracies then I would could believe that there was a conspiracy afoot in the last month to make politics more entertaining. All conspiracy theories however rest on a false assumption: that humanity is efficient and co-operative and able to sustain and effectively communicate a complex agreement amongst a large number of people…
