ID card rebellion in the Lords?

The Register reports that the Tories and Lib-Dems may decouple ID cards from passports. Geeklawyer wishes them well since even he would probably get an ID card if he had to in order to get a new passport.

If they succeed no doubt the Dear Leader will think of some other coercion tactic to force the prols to get ID cards, like cancelling all driving licences, and forcing them to re-apply using the new ID card.

Geeklawyer wonders whether his Amex will stretch to buying a Robinson R44 helicopter. Fun, but not practical.
