This is the obligatory wierd xmas IP story since Geeklawyer couldn’t find anything Santa related.

The American ‘Dykes on Bikes’ motorcycle group applied for a trademark and got turned down because ‘dyke’ was deemed by the USPTO as offensive and derogatory. Cue reams of linguists and professors of English saying it was all fine really and an affirmative sign of empowerment. They got it in the end of course.
